Texas Instruments was founded in 1930 by Cecil H. Green, J. Erik Jonsson and Eugene McDermott. The company’s first product was an electronic multiplier, which it sold to IBM for use in its tabulating machines.
In 1947 TI invented the first transistor radio, which was sold under the brand name “Regency.” The company also produced one of the first pocket calculators for consumer use (the “Cal Tech”) in 1967 and introduced its first microprocessor chip (the TMS 1000) in 1974.
