Overview of Sony
Sony is a Japanese multinational conglomerate corporation that focuses on the production of electronics, video games, and music. It was founded in 1946 as Tokyo Tsushin Kogyo Co., Ltd., which translates to “Tokyo Telecommunications Engineering Corporation.” In 1958, it changed its name to Sony Corporation (ソニー株式会社).
Sony has had several milestones over its history including releasing the first transistor radio in 1954 and launching the first PlayStation console in 1994. Their current revenue comes from their gaming division which accounts for about 25% of their total sales; however they also have other divisions such as consumer electronics (32%), music (15%), financial services (4%) and more!
