Muratec was founded in the year 1988, by a group of individuals who had a passion for technology. The company was originally named Murata Machinery Co., Ltd., but changed its name to Muratec Corporation in 1993.
In 1992, Muratec released its first product–a fax machine that could send color documents over phone lines. This was followed by a laser printer and scanner combo called the F-Series; this device became an instant hit among small businesses because it offered high quality output at an affordable price point (about $10K).
